Extended Reflection Waveform Inversion via Differential Semblance Optimization
Reflection-based waveform inversion introduces migration and demigration process to retrieve low-wavenumber component from reflection data, but both differenceand correlationbased methods suffer from the cycle-skipping problem when the time shifts change rapidly. In this abstract, we introduce model extension and differential semblance optimization into reflection-based waveform inversion. With...
متن کاملInversion of seismic reflection data in the acoustic approximation
The nonlinear inverse problem for seismic reflection data is solved in the acoustic approximation. The method is based on the generalized least-squares criterion, and it can handle errors in the data set and a priori information on the model. Multiply reflected energy is naturally taken into account, as well as refracted energy or surface waves. The inverse problem can be solved using an iterat...
متن کاملSeismic reflection data interpolation with differential offset and shot continuation
I propose a finite-difference offset continuation filter for interpolating seismic reflection data. The filter is constructed from the offset continuation differential equation and is applied on frequency slices in the log-stretch frequency domain. Synthetic and real data tests demonstrate that the proposed method succeeds in structurally complex situations where more simplistic approaches fail.
متن کاملWavelet transform filtering of seismic data by semblance weighting
The presence of noise in a nonstationary signal (i.e., whose frequency content varies with time) complicates the extraction of meaningful information from the signal. The classical Fourier domain of such a signal can only separate the noise from the useful signal energy if they have different frequency content. For nonstationary signals the windowed Fourier transform has been introduced to loca...
متن کاملFull waveform inversion of reflection seismic data for ocean temperature profiles
[i] We show that ocean temperature profiles can be accurately recovered using only acoustic methods employed at the sea surface. Using a towed air gun array and a hydrophone streamer, thermohaline boundaries are ensonified at a suite of frequencies and angles, yielding travel time trajectories and reflectivities. These data are inverted via full waveform inversion to estimate sound speed and, s...
